BRUSSELS, CAPITAL OF ART NOUVEAU

In Brussels, capital of Art Nouveau, the style was developed with the help of the architects Victor Horta and Henry Van de Velde. Their brilliant creative works, as well as those of other architects, bring pleasure to thousands of visitors who enter the private world of these opulent houses every year. At the turn of the 19th century Brussels went through a period of unrivaled effervescence. The middle classes, merchants and artists opted to have their houses built in the style in vogue: Art Nouveau, marking the beginning of modern architecture and design.

You will have the opportunity to visit the Horta House and discover many Art Nouveau façade with a passionate guide.

WALKING WITH OUR BELGIAN COMICS

Brussels, homeland of Tintin and Spirou, the undeniable forerunners of many generations of comic strip heroes (the Smurfs, Lucky Luke and the Daltons, Corentin, Black and Mortimer – to mention only the most famous). The clear line at the tip of a pencil, Belgian comic strip has given birth to some great names of the 9th art and its future looks bright because there’s nothing like deep roots for encouraging new talent to grow. “Speech balloons” are more or less everywhere in Brussels and especially at the Belgian Comic Strip Center (CBBD), set up in a superb Art Nouveau building.

The journey will take you to the CBBD where you will discover the history of Belgian Comics and through a walking guided tour to admire the painted walls spread out everywhere in the city center.

BECOME A CHOCOLATE MASTER !

The experience begins with a warm welcome from your guides and a tasting of the 4 variety of chocolates (dark, milk, white and pink!). While you drink, listen to a short but fascinating introduction into the world of Belgian chocolate and learn an array of chocolate making secrets. After the intro, the real fun begins with a demonstration of chocolate tempering on a marble table. It’s then time to have a go yourself and make your own chocolate treats with the help of expert chocolatiers. Spend 2 hours making your very own personalised and tasty mendiants, truffles, lollipops and more. You’ll also get to work with ruby chocolate, a newly discovered cocoa bean that is 100% natural but which creates incredibly pink chocolate treats!

FROM TAG TO STREET-ART: THE LANGUAGE OF THE WALLS

From the largest fresco in Europe to the moving works of Bonom, from individual, spontaneous graphs to collective or command achievements, let’s explore with a guide during a pedestrian tour the history and status of this urban art, its sources of inspiration – manga, comics, series B, portraits, hip-hop music, etc. -, decipher his codes. Ready for a safari to discover this wild heritage?

The guide will walk you until the MIMA for an astonishing tour. The Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art opened in 2016, is a contemporary art museum. The institution is distinguished by its independent business model based on crow funding and ticketing, as well as its exhibitions that highlight a young generation that transgresses the artistic genres and goals a new audience to the museum

SURREALISM BY MAGRITTE

During this tour, you will visit the Magritte Museum, located in the heart of Brussels, that brings together the world’s largest collection of the renowned surrealist artist René Magritte: 230 works and archives are displayed. The multidisciplinary space houses paintings, gouaches, drawings, sculptures and painted objects, as well as advertising posters, musical scores, photographs and films. The Museum also has the most important collection from the artist’s “vache” period.

Before and after the Museum visit, your guide will walk you through the city centre where you will discover different monuments and taste some local specialties.

BRUSSELS, THE HEART OF EUROPE

Starting at the Schuman roundabout, we offer you a 1,5 hour walk in this neighbourhood of Brussels, home to the largest European institutions. The walk promises pleasant surprises and amazing views. Brussels Europe 2007 – A journey through the heart of Europe, its past and future. The European Institutions as well as the Parliament with their imposing and extremely modern buildings symbolise the splendour and the constant social, cultural, economic and political evolution of Europe.

You will visit the House of European History located in the beautifully renovated Eastman building. The Journey will take you along the path of Europe’s history and challenges you to contemplate its future. An interactive tablet will guide you from the early European myths and discoveries, to the chaos of the 20th century, followed by a growing feeling of unity and belonging.

BRUGES, THE VENICE OF THE NORTH

Some call Bruges an open-air museum or Venice of the North. It is easily understandable since the whole city centre of Bruges is listed as UNESCO cultural Heritage.

Leave the modernity and the technology of the civilized world and let you guide through the narrow-cobbled stone streets of a city which has barely changed since the Medieval Ages. Our guide will lead you through this amazing city and tell you all about its history.

Among other touristic must-see, you will discover on foot Bruges’ famous Belfry and Burg Square as well as off-the-beaten tracks views.

You will discover during this one-day excursion the Church of our Lady and its Museum, the Memling Museum and the Halve Maan brewery.
